Waitress is a musical with music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles and a book by Jessie Nelson. The musical is based on the 2007 film of the same name, which was written and directed by Adrienne Shelly.

Waitress tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town's new doctor may offer her a chance at a new life, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes for happiness.

Waitress premiered on Broadway in April 2016 and was nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It has also had successful runs in the West End and on tour. The musical features a female-led creative team and a mostly female cast and has been praised for its portrayal of strong, complex female characters and its uplifting, empowering message.
